She was apparently shipped off to the Island by the irate citizens of her kindgom, who were displeased with her lack of dedication towards Sarasaland. I mean, we've never even seen Sarasaland after Super Mario Land! Plus, they were annoyed because she'd never bring them any leftover cake from Mario's parties.
Though still technically a Princess (her citizens have yet to agree who gets dibs on Daisy's stuff, including her throne), she lacks any official power on the Island, though Daisy is determined to change this. Her goal is to one day amass an army of followers large enough to enable her to escape the Island (possibly by using them all as an organic raft) and to reclaim her kindgom.
However, impatience and a lack of respect towards those she declares uncool and/or unsuitable for labor will certainly hinder her progress. Like a lot.
Daisy isn't a complete megalomaniac, however. She has a definite soft spot for children and other cute critters, and takes great care in defending those taken under her wing. She's very competitive and loves to play games, too, so she's always up for a friendly(?) challenge. She tend to be a bit of a loud mouth when she wins, though.
A little brash, maybe, and she talks a lot, but Daisy is strong-willed and dedicatedto things that interest her anyway. She's a good ally to have on one's side!
